Cows were the talk of yesterday’s prime market where plain conditioned females traded up to 10c/kg dearer.

A large number f the 6350-head yarding were cows and calves, as growers continue destocking due to the dry season.

  • Two pens of black heifers sold for 258c/kg, sold by CPS Thomas.

    In the breakdown:

  • Yearling steers made 245 to 307c/kg.
  • Heifer yearlings made 193 to 299c/kg.
  • Feeder steers sold from 187 to 291c/kg.
  • Feeder heifers sold from 164 to 268c/kg.
  • Restocker steers sold from 70 to 272c/kg.
  • Restocker heifers sold from 30 to 238c/kg.
  • Grown steers sold from 265 to 293c/kg.
  • Grown heifers made up to 264c/kg.
  • Two-score cows sold from 71 to 170c/kg.
  • Three- to four-score cows sold from 139 to 225c/kg.
  • Bulls sold to 226c/kg.
