STORE CATTLE REPORT
23/08/19
Yarding: 216
A couple of excellent pens of cow and calf units were on offer at Friday’s store cattle sale.
Despite the small numbers, some great quality cattle were penned.
Weaner cattle made up the bulk of the yarding, selling to a top of $540/hd for Angus steers and $300 for the top heifers, which was a pen of Hereford calves.
Angus/Santa cross cows with young calves at foot, by an Angus bull, topped the market at $1170/unit.
Another pen, from be same Purlewaugh vendor, made $1100.
Paul Dakin, PT Lord Dakin and Associates, said there was fair inquiry from buyers looking to purchase cattle to capitalise on failed crops.
“Smart, young weaners were sought after by numerous restockers looking to buy quality lines at competitive prices.”
