Today’s store cattle sale offered a good quality yarding of almost 500 head.

Prices were dearer across the board, a result of a lift in quality.

Regular buyers were in attendance as well as a number of active buyers from the Orange and Bathurst districts, which have received good falls of rain recently.

Steer weaners topped at $815/head for a line of Angus and averaged $565/head or 235c/kg.

Heifer weaners topped at $690 for another line of Angus, and averaged $420/head or 204c/kg.

Ben Marlin, Elders, Dubbo with the top priced pen of cows and calves from today’s sale, which sold for $1300/unit.

The balance of the cows and calves sold from $850 for light Angus cows to $1300/unit for Hereford Angus cross cows with good sized calves at foot.

Dry cows sold from $360 for very light Angus cows to $980/head for good quality Angus cows in forward condition.
