Numbers almost doubled at yesterday’s market compared to the previous week, with almost 20,000 lambs penned.
Pens of extra heavy weight lambs continue to make great money.
A draft of 217 heavy Merino lambs sold for $307.20, setting a new record price for Merino lambs at the Dubbo saleyards. It was just shy of the national record of $314/hd for Merinos set last month at Wagga.
The Glendemar Multi-purpose blood lambs were sold by CPS Thomas, on behalf of the Zell family, “Widgerie”, Tooraweenah.
Lambs overall were firm to cheaper, selling to $159/hd for light weights and $255/hd for trade weights.
Heavy weights sold to a top of $344/hd.
Hoggets sold to $220/hd.
The mutton market was dearer for heavy weight pens, selling to $218 for full fleece Merino ewes and $220 for crossbreds.
Merino wethers sold to $235/hd.
