PRIME SHEEP AND LAMB REPORT

Agents presented a mixed yarding at Monday’s regular sheep and lamb sale, with a larger percentage of light weight lambs penned compared to previous sales.
There were some outstanding pens of sheep on offer and prices remained firm to dearer across the board.
Light weight lambs to the processors were $7 dearer, with the 12-18kg 2 scores making from $105 to $156/head. Trade lambs were $9 to $12 dearer, with the 18-24kg lambs making from $160 to $239/head to average from 870c to 960c/kg cwt.
Heavy weight lambs were $9 to $13 dearer, with the over 24kg lambs receiving from $230 to $324/head to average approximately 955c/kg cwt. The top heavy weight lambs was a line of 224 crossbreds which came from the Shanks family, Shanks Farms, Dubbo, sold by Christie and Hood agency.
Another run of lambs from Yarran Holdings, Armatree sold for $323.60/hd.
Merino lambs were $8 dearer, with the trade weights making from $140 to $199, while a pen of heavy weight Merinos sold for $218/head.
Lambs to the restockers were also dearer, with young first cross ewes receiving from $120 to $147/head.
Hoggets sold to $225/head. The top hoggets were sold by Barlow and Peadon Schute Bell, on behalf of the French family from Geurie. They sold another pen of hoggets for $206.20/hd on behalf of Quigley Farms, Trangie.
Pens of good quality sheep were on offer with prices increasing as much as $5/hd for lighter weights and $7/hd for heavier pens. Two score ewes sold from $55 to $120, while the better 3 and 4 scores made from $108 to $235 for crossbreds and $223/head for Merinos.
The top crossbred ewes was a line of 275 head, and were sold by Peter Milling and Company.
Merino wethers sold to $213.20/head. The top pen of wethers were sold by Ray White Rural, on behalf of a Wellington vendor.
