PRIME SHEEP AND LAMB REPORT

Yarding: 15,640

Numbers lifted considerably compared to the previous weeks wet weather sale. It was a good quality yarding with good numbers of heavy trade lambs along with some very good heavy weights.
There were also a few consignments of very light lambs with people taking advantage of the stronger markets.
A full field of buyers were present and operating in another solid market.

Light weight lambs to the processor finished firm to $3 cheaper with the 12 to 18kg 2 scores selling from $103 to $170/head. Trade lambs were $12 to $15 dearer with the 18 to 23kg 3 scores selling from $170 to $235 to average from 915c to 960c/kg cwt.
Heavy weight lambs were $15 dearer with the over 24kg 4 scores selling from $222 to $297/head.
Merino lambs were also dearer with the trade weights selling from $162 to $192, while a pen of heavier weights sold for $216/head. Lambs to the restockers were $12 dearer with very light young lambs selling from $69 to $89, while the better lambs sold from $115 to $168/head.
Hoggets sold to $230/head.

It was a mostly plain quality yarding of sheep where the light and medium weight sheep were $8 to $11 dearer and the heavier weight sheep were $14 to $25/head dearer, with quality a factor.
Merino ewes to the processors sold from $95 to $210 while the crossbred ewes sold from $96 to $235/head.
The restockers were very active paying from $120 to $188 for Merino ewes and $118/head for Merino wethers.
