It was a much better quality yarding this sale with a fair selection of trade weight lambs along with better numbers of outstanding heavy weights.

Once again there was a good selection of Merino lambs and hoggets. The usual field of buyers were in attendance and operating. It was a mixed yarding of mutton with some outstanding heavy weight sheep yarded along with a larger percentage of plainer types.

The light and medium weight sheep were firm to $5/head cheaper and the heavy weight sheep were dearer on quality.

Trade lambs were firm to $4 dearer with the new season lambs selling from $155 to $180/head.

Trade weight old lambs sold from $140 to $188 to average from 750c to 790c/kg cwt. Heavy weight lambs were $5 to $7/head dearer with the better quality assisting in the rise. Old lambs weighing 24 to 30kg sold from $180 to $225 while those over 30kg sold from $249 to $280/head to average 790c/kg cwt. New season lambs over 24kg sold from $185 to $220/head. Merino lambs were firm with the trade weights selling from $150 to $184 while the heavy weight Merino lambs sold from $173 to $208/head.

The restockers were very active on suitable lambs with young new season lambs selling from $146 to $172/head. Shorn lambs to the restockers sold from $127 to $185 while Aussie White ewe lambs sold from $169 to $204/head. Hoggets sold to $218 while first cross ewe hoggets sold to the restockers for $245/head.

Merino ewes sold from $100 to $215 while the crossbred ewes made from $122 to $220/head.

Merino wethers sold from $120 to $205 while crossbred wethers sold to a top of $240/head. Carcass prices for the better sheep ranged from 600c to 645c/kg cwt.
