Dearer trend at wet sale

Numbers remained steady with good rainfall overnight and throughout the sale.
Cows and heifers were well supplied with steer numbers reduced.
There were limited supplies of well finished trade cattle with the majority of the young cattle best suited to restocking or feedlot purposes.
Well finished heavy cows in good numbers. The regular buyers were in attendance along with extra export processor competition.
Restocker demand was again high through the young cattle, particularly for the very light weights.
There was dearer trends for vealers, both steers and heifers to restockers.
Yearling steers to restock and feed sold on a firm to slightly dearer market trend with some breed and quality related price change evident.
There was little but breed and quality related price change in the light weight yearling heifers to restock.
Medium and heavy weight feeder heifers were cheaper with quality contributing.
Heavy trade heifers sold to a dearer trend.
The increased export processor competition resulted in dearer trends through the grown cattle. Heavy weight steers were up to 10c/kg dearer.
The plainer condition and medium weight cows were firm to slightly dearer.
Heavy weight cows improved in quality and sold to a dearer trend of 8c/kg and more in places.
