Numbers increased considerably at yesterday’s sheep and lamb sale, mainly due to the upcoming week’s break for the long weekend.
A total of 36,829 head were yarded.
Lambs topped at $322 a head for two different drafts of extra heavy weights – the top money paid so far in 2019.
The first were a draft of 181 head from the Maurice family, Spicers Creek, sold by Plasto and Company.
The second draft to make $322 was sold by Peter Milling and Company, on behalf of the Hyland family.
Merino lambs topped at $240/hd for heavy weights. Hoggets sold for as much as $210/hd.
In the mutton market, crossbred ewes sold to a top of $231 while full wool Merinos sold for a top of $228/hd.
Wethers sold to $215/hd.
