Substantial falls of rain across the Dubbo district and surrounding areas has pushed prices at today’s Dubbo cattle market up to 452.2c/kg.
While wet weather on Wednesday caused numbers to fall by 650 on the expected draw, prices increased by as much as 100c/kg for weaner cattle, compared to last week’s market.
Wellington auctioneer Ross Plasto, Plasto and Company, sold young weaner cattle to a top of 452.2c/kg at today’s market.
“The feeder market was 15 to 20c/kg dearer than last week while weaner cattle lifted by up to 100c/kg,” he said. “The cows and other markets were firm to dearer as well.”
Restocker and processor activity was strong across all categories at today’s market, where prime steer yearlings sold from 310 to 354c/kg, and prime heifer yearlings sold from 300 to 332c/kg.
Feeder cattle sold from 320 to 372c/kg, up as much as 35c on last week’s sale. Feeder heifers sold from 278c to 339c/kg.
Young cattle to the restockers were considerably dearer with the young steers selling to 428c while the young heifers sold to
390c/kg.
The few prime grown steers were firm selling from 300c to 320c while grown heifers were 15c to 20c dearer selling to 317c/kg.
Plainer conditioned cows were 14c/kg dearer while the prime cows were firm.
The 2 score cows sold from 215c to 248c while the better 3 and 4 scores sold from 243c to 288c with the prime heavy weights averaging 270c/kg.
With strong support from Queensland buyers, restocker cows were much dearer selling from 170c to 251c/kg.
Bulls to the processors sold to 320c, while the live exporters paid to 317c/kg.
