A great result for local agency Plasto and Company in yesterday’s regular sheep and lamb sale, who sold a run of 80 lambs for $277/hd on behalf of Adam and Natasha Whillock, “Haddington”, Wellington.
The second cut (200 head) sold for $234/hd.

Prices were up across the yarding of 21,900 head, with some categories as much as $30/hd up on last week’s sale.

Increased numbers of heavy weight lambs were met with healthy demand, driving prices to $219 to $277/hd for extra heavy weights (30kg+ carcase weight).

For lambs ranging between 24 to 30kg

Trade weight Merinos sold from $125 to $162, while heavy weight Merinos reached $176/head. Restocker lambs were $10 to $15 dearer, with the better types making from $126 to $170, while light lambs to the
restockers sold from $65 to $102/head. Hoggets sold to $210/head.

Most grades were represented in a reasonably useful quality yarding of mutton. The light and medium weight sheep were up to $20 dearer, while the heavy weights were up to $30/head dearer and more in places. 2 score ewes sold from $60 to $108 to average from 470c to 500c, while the better 3 and 4 scores sold from $90 to $215 for crossbreds and $236/head for Merinos, with plenty of sheep selling at prices in excess of 600c/kg cwt. Merino wethers sold to $156/head.

Lambs offered by Plasto and Company, on behalf of the Whillock family, “Haddington”, Wellington made $277/hd.
