There was a reduced penning this sale with light weight yearlings making up the bulk of the offering.
The market was cheaper than the previous sale through all categories.
Steers sold from $270 for plain weaner cattle, through to a top of $805/head for a line of quality Santa Gertrudis steers from the Carter family’s Wellington property, “Umagarlee”. The average was $490/head.
The heifer offering attracted less interest, with the plainest heifers selling to poor competition.
They sold from $165 for very plain weaners through to $580/head for a draft of 24 Santa Gertrudis heifers.
Another run of 12 from the same vendor sold for $550 head.
A pen of Angus cows with bigger calves at foot topped at $1,010/unit.
The plainer quality cows with very small calves sold from $500 to $650.
